Authenticity, Not Performance
Life is not a performance, but a story woven from your experiences.
It's a series of observations and actions you’ve made that present themselves as an expression of the life you’re living, the life that results from the collection of experiences that have formed you emotionally, physically, and spiritually. Actions that have led you to a specific moment, caught the eye of my camera and placed you in my viewfinder as I aim to capture a photograph, a visual memory of this instant that will become a part of your whole story.
This is not the time to stop what you are doing, turn towards the camera, pose, and smile. I repeat myself; life is not a performance.
Don't stop what you’re doing. Don't turn and pose. Authenticity, not performance, is what draws my camera. Don't lose the essence of what brought you here, what made you so captivating that I needed to capture it. I want to document the real you - your essence, your journey, your perspective on the world.
You’ve just lost the life experience that brought you to the moment when an observer, me, a photographer, found you so interesting that it needed to be recorded, a visual record of who you are, who you have become, and how you experience the world.
It's not the insincere smile or the altered facial and bodily expressions that were captivating. Not the staged performance that is now happening. What truly matters is the raw and unfiltered experience you were having. The spontaneous moments that you might not even be aware of, are what I aim to capture. These are the instances that truly captivate me, the real essence of the moment.
It's not about capturing a performance but preserving a piece of your story, as authentic and unvarnished as it comes.
