Bad Choices
Almost made this My Final Photo for the day because at first I didn’t like any of the individual photos enough select it as a finality.
Then, I had to choose.
Some days, like today, don’t go exactly as planned. It was very cold, very windy, a chill factor day and I thought it would be possible to get a photo that clearly expressed the sudden severity of the change of temperature.
I was so close at several moments but there was always something that wasn’t right with every frame.
Distracting backgrounds, slightly out of focus, shot too loose, shot too tight, not at peak action. Always something wrong.
My Final Photo might have been much better if I’d been on the other side of State Street instead of standing in front of Graeter’s waiting for someone to exit eating a waffle cone with double-dip black raspberry chocolate chunk. Everyone who entered was too smart to leave the store stepping into the frigid weather and eating ice cream. They were smarter than me. Me, the foolish photographer who stood outside much longer than necessary to know it was a bad idea.
Eventually, I settled on executing one of the three requirements. New, different, and/or better.
Chose different because none of the photos were as good as I wanted. And, I was very cold. That was different.
