Good And Quick
I’ve been waiting for a light snowfall before I returned to the Christmas tree lot at Glengary. It appears that short of an answered prayer that I haven’t offered I won’t have significant snow before Christmas.
Went back late this afternoon just to say hello to the crew at the lot and I don’t go anywhere without a camera.
In this case, it was the Z5 with a 35mm f1.8 lens, ISO 1600 under darkening skies. Carried it only as insurance in case something photogenic jumped out in front of me.
It was a good thing I did.
I made only 12 frames. Eight of the moment above and four of him walking the aisles. The aisle photo is at the bottom.
The lighting was great. Post-sunset blues with warm tones from the lights illuminating the tree lot. Peak action. Relatively good background enhanced by the narrow depth of field at f1.8.
The key to shooting with a narrow depth of field is choosing a significant subject to be in focus. In this case, it was his face. the photo below was the ornament.
