I ran all over the place for about 30 minutes hoping to see a break in the clouds so I could make a photo of tonight’s full moon. I wanted a photo that met my continuing quest for new, different, or better phto.
However, I visited some of the places where I’ve made full moon photos before, hoping that different would show up. Began at the Sharp farm for something different with the gazebo or the small outhouse-looking structure. It was too cloudy. No moon.
I did get to see some deer standing in wonderful sunset light.
I then traveled to a parking lot off Cleveland Ave. for a view of the Yarnell Farm. The moon finally appeared an hour after moonrise. It was too high above the Yarnell barns to be of interest and the clouds still covering it. All I saw was a glowing orb.
The only option at this point, with the moon so high in the sky, was another photo of the weathervane at Childrens Hospital on Cleveland Ave.
It wasn’t a photo I wanted to make as I’d made it many times before. Two days ago, I published a similar photo from several years ago in the PhotoCamp Daily newsletter.
This one might be different as the sky was still cloudy with the full moon backlighting the thin layer of clouds.
I’m glad that I ended the night with this photo. All the other photos I’ve made of this weathervane are with a very long telephoto concentrating on the shape of the metal silhouetted against the moon. Now the clouds added the opportunity to make a frame showing clouds and a smaller weathervane.
This may be the best angle yet. An even wider view is My Final Photo for Friday.
