Manual Focus
Do This On A Phone
Today’s The Continuance from The Westerville News has a series of photos of Christmas lights and decorations in Uptown.
All are blurred and out of focus. Some subjects are recognizable such as the Christmas tree at city hall, above. Other subjects are not so easily recognizable.
It’s a simple technique. Turn off auto-focus. Focus manually to blur the lights.
Go ahead. Try it on your phone camera. I’ll wait.
Waiting.
It’s not impossible to do with your phone but it requires an app other than the default camera app that is designed to keep as much as possible in focus. In some phone camera systems, the software is designed to make blurred, out-of-focus photos look perfect even removing camera shake.
You won’t get this type of photo with your phone.
