It was a Monday. That means I’m traveling to the Braun Farm. Again. Just as I have for about 15 years although it's been only 12 years since I’ve visited every Monday.
This time of the year the only thing that really changes is the weather and it happened very quickly Monday as I walked back to my car to leave after having made several ordinary photographs.
Clouds parted very quickly bathing the farm in a narrow strip of warm bright light that reminded me more of a fall day than winter in February.
I knew I didn’t have much time to find a good spot to stand to show how the light took away the cold and the wind. I’ve shot this angle many times in every weather pattern. The photo above is from summer several years ago.
There’s something very striking about the contrast of tones and colors in Monday’s photo. Warm tones with a contrasting blue-gray sky.
My ideal frame, the one I’ve shot so many times, would have been about two feet further back but the demolition crew had already dug holes to remove the well and sewer making the favored position inaccessible.
Even from too close, I was able to use the trees as framing devices and to create depth. Also used the ones on the right to obscure sight of the senior housing and apartments.
