The Unreliable Narrator
As a photographer, people often ask me, "Did you get any good shots today?" I never say "yes" with much confidence. It’s not that I don’t believe in the photos I’ve taken; it’s that I don’t trust myself to judge them right away.
I’m an unreliable narrator of my own work.
It's hard to see clearly when you’re in the middle of it, caught up in making photos. The emotions, the thoughts, the light—they all blur together. What seems important in the moment might lose its meaning later. Or maybe you see something in the photo you didn’t notice before, something that changes everything.
