Just One More In The Collection
Watching Flash Filling
Added another black-and-white photo to the construction worker collection.
I’ve previously written about these photos and why I think they look best with the color removed and the worker’s actions and stance being more visible.
Color Peak Action
One of the fun parts of putting together yesterday’s newsletter about these construction workers was being able to compare the black-and-white conversions to the original color. I much prefer the conversions to the color. There is a more dynamic quality to the monochrome photos than the ones where color has an added dimension that distracts from the graphic design and the peak action.
Reducing Information To The Essentials
I continue to be fascinated by a series of black-and-white photos I’ve made of construction workers. I don’t know if it is some deep-seated nostalgic emotional cry for the days when everything was shot on black and white film or a new passion that wants to remove the distractions of color and better see shapes, textures, and tones.
